A few years ago, a tourist spent about $700-800 on average in Armenia, but now that figure is close to $1,000, which is a result of market diversification and increasing the attractiveness of the country, Mekhak Apresyan, the chairman of the Federation of Tourism of Armenia told NEWS.am

Apresyan said that the increase in tourists' expenses is not the result of inflation, but rather the result of market diversification.

According to his forecasts, the figures of tourist flow for the whole year 2021 will be lower than the data for 2019, but higher than last year.

Apresyan was pleased to point to the relative activity of tourist flows to Armenia in the New Year holidays, given last year's decline amid coronavirus and war.

If we compare with the indicators of the first 9 months of 2019, the tourist flow to Armenia in January-September 2021 decreased by 40%, the expert added.

He said that if there are no new force majeure situations, competent state policy and implementation of systematic reforms in 2022 it will be possible to restore the indicators of 2019.
