Land of Noah offers tour to the western part of Armenia. The first destination is Oshakan Church or Saint Mesrop Mashtots Cathedral built between 1875 and 1879 by Catholicos Gevork 4th of Armenia. The church is famous for being the burial place of Saint Mesrop Mashtots - the creator of the Armenian alphabet.
Then we will head to Karmravor Church, which is one of the most charming churches of Armenia. It was built in the 7th century. The main reason why the church is called Karmravor (“reddish”) is the brown tuff of which it was made. Our next stop is Hovhannavank which was known as an important educational and theological center of Armenia between the 12th and 17th centuries, and had a scriptorium where manuscripts were written and illuminated.
The last destination is Saghmosavank monastery built in 1215. It was famous for its manuscripts. Its separate parts were not only made from red and black stones but also painted white, yellow and red.
