The two monastic complexes of Haghpat and Sanahin are situated in the Lori region of Armenia, dating back to the 10th to 13th centuries. These two monasteries represent the highest flowering of Armenian religious architecture, whose unique style combines Byzantine ecclesiastical architecture and the traditional folk architecture of the Caucasian region.
